School Council

The school council is an elected body.

Each September at the beginning of the new school year, the children in each class from Reception to Y6 vote for two representatives, usually a boy and a girl, to serve on the school council for the whole academic year.

The teachers overseeing the school council in the academic year of 2022 - 2023 are Mrs Pope and Mrs Maskell.

The school council members represent their class and meet regularly to discuss school issues. Every year the representatives are conscientious and very willing to give up their lunch time to attend meetings. Part of their remit is to gather ideas from their peers on the topics for discussion and bring them to meetings and then report back.

In the past the school council has surveyed the staff, parents and children asking their opinion of the availability and variety of the after school clubs on offer. This survey led to an increase in the number and choice of these clubs. They also were very involved in creating the Wessex Primary Playground Charter and in helping to decide on the new school uniform.

Every year we raise over £1 000 for charity. The school council is involved in deciding fun ways to do this.
