Special Educational Needs and Disabilities

Wessex Primary School is committed to providing a caring and inclusive environment with high quality education for all our children. We believe that all children have a common entitlement to a broad and balanced academic and social curriculum which is accessible to them, and to be fully included in all aspects of school life.

We achieve this by ensuring the well-being of all pupils in relation to: being healthy, staying safe, enjoying and achieving, making a positive contribution, and achieving social and economic well-being.

We strive to allow every child to fulfil his/her optimum potential through personalised teaching and learning approaches and believe that all children should be equally valued in school.  We believe that educational inclusion provides equal opportunities for all learners and to engender a sense of community and belonging. We strive to eliminate prejudice and discrimination, and to respond to the children in ways which take account of their varied life experiences and needs.

We aim to provide a setting and ethos where all children can flourish and feel well prepared for their futures as well rounded, confident and independent members of society.

For more information relating to our Specialist Resource Provision for pupils with a hearing impairment, please see our Hearing Resource Page.

Our SEND Information Report explains how we identify, assess and support pupils with SEND. It sets out the provision we offer, how we work with families and the ways we ensure pupils with SEND take part fully in school life.
You can find the SEND Information Report in the download section at the bottom of this page.

Our SEND & Inclusion Policy explains the principles and responsibilities that underpin our SEND provision at Wessex. The policy is also available in the downloads section.

All local authorities must publish a Local Offer, which explains the full range of support and services available for children and young people with SEND in the area, including guidance for families and routes to specialist services.

We contribute to and work within the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead’s Local Offer.
